Conditions: Arm Injuries and Disorders
Condition Details
The arm consists of the shoulder joint, the upper arm, the elbow joint, the fore arm and the wrist. The shoulder joint consists of the Humerus of the upper arm and the scapula (shoulder blade). These are bound together with numerous ligaments and the muscles are attached with tendons. The elbow joint consists of the Humerus of the upper arm and the Radius and Ulna of the forearm, as well as numerous ligaments and tendonous attachments for muscles. The wrist consists of the Radius and Ulna as well as many of the small wrist and hand bones called carpal bones. Between each bone are ligaments binding them together. The muscles of the shoulder are known as the Rotator Cuff and injuries to the shoulder are generally Rotator Cuff Injuries. The elbow is prone to sports injuries such as Tennis Elbow or Golfers Elbow. The wrist may be subject to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or to breakages such as a Colles' Fracture. In addition, people with connective tissue disorders, bone disorders and nerve disorders may find themselves also dealing with problems in their arms.
